Trade Single Window (TSW)
Border agencies are preparing a business case for a Trade Single Window which will be considered by Government in 2009.
The Trade Single Window (TSW) would provide parties involved in international trade and transportation with a single point of submission for compliance-related information to do with the import, export and transit of cargo, and the arrival and departure of commercial ships and aircraft.
The TSW project team has consulted a wide range of industry associations to better understand the border environment from an industry perspective and obtain a representative view of the issues a TSW could solve. More detailed work with specific companies has helped the TSW team further explore the viability of the concept in terms of costs, benefits and value to industry.
In early 2009, the TSW team will put together a model of how the TSW might work in future, and circulate that back to industry associations. The intention is that industry groups discuss the proposal with their individual members and provide the TSW team with a considered response which can go toward the business case.
