Advance Notice of Arrival
Commercial vessel owners or operators, or their agents, are required to supply specific information at least 48 hours prior to a vessel’s arrival into New Zealand, using a New Zealand Advance Notice of Arrival (NZCS 344) form.
Crew and passenger lists must be supplied in electronic CSV format using the NZCS 355 & 342 - commercial template. This list must be emailed to apicustodian@customs.govt.nz.
Part of the requirements for giving Advance Notice of Arrival of a craft en route to New Zealand is to lodge information on Inward Cargo Reports (ICRs). ICRs provide details of the craft's cargo for discharge within New Zealand (whether commercial or non-commercial) and its commercial cargo not intended for discharge in New Zealand (if any). The purpose of ICRs is to enable the Customs Service to identify cargo that might pose a risk to New Zealand and to be able to do this before the cargo is landed in New Zealand.
The completed Advance Notice of Arrival form should be sent to all of the following:
- The Customs National Targeting Centre – Phone: 0800-428 786, Fax: 0800-248 877, E-mail: nso@customs.govt.nz
- The New Zealand Customs Service at the first port at which the vessel is to arrive, or the Customs office nearest to that port
- Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry/Biosecurity New Zealand (MAFBNZ) at the first port at which the vessel is to arrive, or the MAF office nearest to that port. (Include the Ballast Water Declaration Part 1 - and Part 2 if required.)
- Maritime Safety Authority at the nearest Maritime New Zealand office
- Health Protection Officer at your nearest Public Health Service.
