Advance Notice of Arrival


Cruise vessel owners or operators, or their agents, are required to supply specific information at least 48 hours prior to a vessel’s arrival into New Zealand, using a New Zealand Advance Notice of Arrival form.

Crew and passenger lists must be supplied in electronic CSV format using the NZCS 355 & 342 - cruise template. This list must be emailed to apicustodian@customs.govt.nz.

The completed Advanced Notice of Arrival form should be sent to all of the following:
  • The Customs National Targeting Centre – Phone: 0800 428 786, Fax: 0800 248 877, E-mail: nso@customs.govt.nz  
  • New Zealand Customs Service at the first port at which the vessel is to arrive, or the Customs office nearest to that port
  • Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry/Biosecurity New Zealand (MAFBNZ) at the first port at which the vessel is to arrive, or the MAFBNZ office nearest to that port. (Include the Ballast Water Declaration Part 1 - and Part 2 if required.) 
  • Maritime Safety Authority at the nearest Maritime Safety Authority office
  • Health Protection Officer at your nearest Public Health Service.
