Advance Notice of Arrival

A person in charge of a private aircraft that is arriving from a point outside New Zealand must notify both Customs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry/Biosecurity NZ (MAFBNZ) of their intention to land in New Zealand.

In addition to a Customs Inward Report - the following information is required as part of the Advance Notice of Arrival. 

This notification should be at least 24 hours before the planned arrival time in New Zealand.

Content of Advance Notice of Arrival

Custom legislation requires that a person in charge of an aircraft en-route to New Zealand must provide the following information not less than two hours before the estimated time of arrival in New Zealand.

(a) The type of aircraft; and
(b) The aircraft's registration number; and
(c) The aircraft's originating airport; and
(d) The name of every airport at which the aircraft has landed between its originating airport and arrival at the Customs designated New Zealand airport or place of arrival; and
(e) The name of every airport in New Zealand at which the person in charge of the aircraft intends to land the aircraft; and
(f) The respective numbers of passengers and crew members on the aircraft; and
(g) The status of each traveller, ie whether the traveller is landing or in transit, including passengers and crew members on the aircraft; and
(h) In respect of every passenger and crew member –

(i) The person's full name, date of birth, gender, and nationality; and
(ii) An indication of whether the person's travel document is a passport or certificate of identity, the number and expiry date of the passport or certificate of identity, the state or organisation that issued it, and the city in which it was issued; and
(iii) The airport at which the person embarked on the aircraft.

(i) The crew ranking or rating of every crew member on the aircraft; and
(j) The estimated date and time of arrival of the aircraft in New Zealand; and
(k) The Customs Designated Airport at which the aircraft will arrive; and
(l) The name of the person in charge of the aircraft; and
(m) The name and contact details of the person providing the information; and
(n) The Customs designated airport at which the aircraft is intending to depart from New Zealand, the expected time of departure, and its intended place of overseas destination.
