A Career With Customs

Customs is embarking on an exciting new approach to recruiting. We want to bring Trainee Customs officers into the Service as a team. Starting from Day 1, groups of trainees will go through their comprehensive training programme together. They will develop the values, knowledge and skills that enable them to represent Customs with authority and professionalism in a way that maintains and enhances the respect Customs has from the business community and the general public.

An investment in your career:

  • As a Trainee Customs officer you will be trained to carry out a wide range of Customs duties in a variety of environments including airports, sea ports, at sea, in the city and out in the country.
  • Your first step to becoming a Customs officer begins with five months learning the ropes, including the first three weeks on a residential induction course.
  • At the completion of the programme, you and your team will be well prepared for starting a successful career with Customs.
