Customs officer receives Queen's Service Medal
Stephen Baggs, of Kelston, received the Queen's Service Medal at an investiture ceremony at
Government House in Auckland on 1 April 2009 for services to the New Zealand Customs
Service.
Mr Baggs, who is pictured with John Secker, Deputy Comptroller of Customs, has served with
Customs for almost 40 years. He is a specialist tariff officer.
He is recognised as an expert authority in the area of Customs tariff and tariff classification matters and
has made a contribution to the facilitation of international trade. Mr Baggs also plays a key role in
educating importers, exporters, and freight forwarding companies through training courses run by the
Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Federation.
