NZ-China Free Trade Agreement - Issuers of Certificates of Origin

The New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) is providing a further opportunity for New Zealand entities wishing to be designated as a Certification Body to issue certificates of origin under the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to lodge their submission.

Customs first advertised the opportunity to become a Certification Body in late May 2008 through Customs Release.

The changes in the document issued now primarily reflect the subsequent passage of the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement Act 2008 that amended the Customs and Excise Act 1996 to give the Chief Executive of Customs the power to designate certification bodies subject to certain terms and conditions.

Alternatively you can call or email Alan Davies on 04-462 0314 to request the document be sent to you.

Those New Zealand entities that wish to be considered for designation will need to respond to Customs by Friday, 26 September 2008.
