Influenza A (H1N1) – border control measures

The New Zealand Customs Service, under the direction of the Ministry of Health, is managing all international passengers arriving at all New Zealand international airports.

All passengers on all in-bound flights are being read a message prior to arrival in New Zealand seeking any passengers with flu-like symptoms to alert air crew.

All passengers are being screened at Auckland Airport and are receiving public health messages that they should contact a health professional if they are displaying flu-like symptoms. They are also completing passenger locator cards so they can easily be contacted if required.

Medical staff have been on site at Auckland Airport since flights began arriving early Monday 27 April.

Members of the public who have travelled to Mexico or North America in the last fortnight should contact Healthline (0800 611 116) for information regarding the situation. They should seek medical advice if they are displaying flu-like symptoms.
