Caption:

The New Zealand Customs Service welcomed Martyn Dunne to the position of Comptroller on Monday September 20.

Prior to taking up this appointment, Martyn Dunne was the Commander Joint Forces New Zealand in the New Zealand Defence Force.

Martyn has a background in security and counter terrorism and is experienced in leading large numbers of staff. He has been involved in extensive inter-agency work, particularly amongst the border and enforcement agencies.

During the next two or three months, he will be visiting most ports to meet Customs staff and key stakeholders.

Martyn says he is ready and willing to look and listen as he learns more about the New Zealand Customs Service and the trade and travel environment it operates in.

"I see the New Zealand Customs Service performing a wide range of tasks with excellent professionalism and acumen, based on a strong set of values."

"Customs has a track record of working in partnership with businesses in the trade and travel environment as well as cooperating closely with other government agencies. I see that continuing, as we work to further the New Zealand Customs Service's reputation as the best small nation customs service in the world."

The acting management arrangements that have applied in the New Zealand Customs Service for the last six months have now ceased, and managers who have been in acting roles return to the following positions:

National Manager Air and Marine - John Secker
National Manager Intelligence - Andrew Coleman
National Manager Investigations - Matt Roseingrave
Manager Investigations - Phil Chitty
