Audit and Risk

Gives independent and objective assurance to the Comptroller on the adequacy of Customs systems and processes, risk management and governance. It also provides advice on improvements, as well as an internal auditing function.

Finance and Corporate Support

Provides best practice financial management systems, advice and reporting.
  
Responsible for collecting revenue owing to the Crown, Customs and other departments through efficient, reliable systems and effective credit management and debt follow up.

Information Services

Develops and implements Customs' information systems and knowledge strategies to help Customs deliver its operational and policy objectives. This group develops, maintains and enhances Customs' computer infrastructure and applications and provides 24x7 support for key systems.

Legal and Advisory Services

Provides legal advice and advocacy services and specialist technical advice on the tariff, valuation and Rules of Origin.

Organisation Development and Human Resources

Provides strategic and operational people and organisation development initiatives and human resource advisory services aimed at enhancing Customs ability to respond to current and future challenges through strengthening of workforce performance and capability.

Policy

Offers policy advice to the Comptroller, Executive Leadership Team, Minister and Cabinet on issues relating to border management and Customs' revenue collection. This group also manages Customs' international work programme.

Strategic and Executive Services

Supports the Executive Leadership Team's strategic direction and governance of the Customs Service. This group is responsible for strategy, planning and performance, communications, Maori responsiveness, and servicing the Minister of Customs and  Customs’ executive committees. It is also the home for the multi-agency Border Sector Secretariat.
