Airports Group


The Airports Group is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the movements of  passengers, crew and aircraft are legitimate
  • Ensuring that all items brought into and taken out of New Zealand by passengers and crew are legitimate
  • Making the airport and Customs experience smoother and easier for legitimate passengers
  • Managing risk
  • Collecting duties, GST and fees on imported goods.
The Group processes arriving and departing air passengers and crew at New Zealand's international airports. This involves:

  • Profiling potential risks
  • Clearing passengers and crew
  • Applying any existing alert instructions that might exist for passengers and crew
  • Conducting searches of passengers and their baggage, where necessary.
Airports Group staff are located in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.
