Martyn Dunne, Comptroller (Chief Executive).
Martyn was appointed as Comptroller and Chief Executive of the New Zealand Customs Service in September 2004.
Since taking up this role, Martyn has sought to build on Customs' strong operational capability and reputation. His priorities have been to ensure a future capability that will achieve the goal of leadership in border management while reflecting Customs' values of integrity, respect, commitment, and agility.
Martyn also serves on a number of state sector leadership and advisory boards, including the Leadership Development Centre.
Prior to joining Customs, Martyn spent 27 years in the New Zealand Defence Force, most recently as Commander Joint Forces in the rank of Major General. His military service included appointments with the New Zealand Special Air Service (SAS).
In June 2008 Martyn was elected Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO). His vision is for a future-looking and robust WCO.
Martyn is a graduate from the Australian College of Defence and Strategic Studies and from the Australian Command and Staff College and he holds a Master of Arts Degree in Strategic Studies from La Trobe University, Melbourne.
