Paul Campbell, Group Manager Trade & Marine.

Paul joined the New Zealand Customs Service in 1977. During his 30 years service Paul has held a number of roles across Customs.   

In 2009, Paul was given the opportunity to rotate to his current role of Group Manager Trade & Marine. The Trade and Marine portfolio has many responsibilities across a range of functions in relation to the importation and exportation of goods, craft, and passengers.     

In 2002, Paul was seconded to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, where he was attached to the Domestic and External Security Secretariat. In this role he co-ordinated work on the first multi agency doctrine for response to maritime illegal migration and co-ordinated New Zealand’s first civilian military joint maritime interdiction exercise.  

Paul was then appointed to the Strategic Relationship Manager role for New Zealand Customs in Wellington. In 2005, Paul was appointed to the Group Manager Investigations and Response role.      

In 2009 Paul was asked to be a member of the Export New Zealand Auckland Advisory Committee, where he has specifically shown an interest in logistics relating to the export supply chain and our role in facilitating exporters.
