The New Zealand Customs Service Role in Exporting
The New Zealand Customs Service plays an integral role in exporting.
We facilitate legitimate trade and help secure access for New Zealand exports to overseas markets.
We do this by:
- assuring the security of New Zealand's trade supply chains
- providing technical input to trade negotiations, resolution of trade issues
- implementing, monitoring and enforcing border aspects of trade agreements.
Customs contributes to trade and tourism support, and works with other Government agencies at the border. These agencies include Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and New Zealand Food Safety Authority
