Detailed information related to Becoming licensed as Customs controlled area

The owner, occupier or person operating in the area to be licensed will need to:

If you will be incurring a monthly excise liability of more than $5,000, we may need to have security from you. The security may take the form of any or all of the following:

  • A bond (with or without sureties).
  • A guarantee to Her Majesty the Queen.
  • A written undertaking in such form as the Chief Executive may require.
  • A deposit of cash.

You may also need to provide additional information. This may be stated on the form or you may be asked to supply it once you have submitted your application.

Send your application and all other information to your local Customs office.

Once we receive your application we may need to:

  • Discuss and negotiate with you to ensure that any licence and procedure statement issued contains appropriate terms and conditions.
  • Inspect the premises to check the physical and structural security and safeguards.
  • Request more information from you.
