Arrival by private craft

The Customs and Excise Act 1996 requires that all overseas aircraft coming to New Zealand must arrive at a Customs airport; and all yachts, cruise ships and other craft at a Customs port of entry.

If you are in charge of a private aircraft or private sea vessel intending to land in New Zealand, you must give prior warning of your intentions.

All private planes and sea craft will be met by Customs officers and Ministry for Primary Industries quarantine officers. Unless there are special circumstances, persons and goods should remain on board until the plane or craft has been entered.
