10. Are the designated compartments of an Offsite Storage Area only available to the one licence holder? What happens if your compartment is full?

A

It is possible that an offsite storage area can be divided into “compartments” and each separate compartment individually licensed as an offsite storage area e.g. a warehouse divides its space into ten (10) separate compartments that would be licensed as 10 (ten) different entities.

If someone had rented a compartment in a storage area, and had it licensed under their own name, that compartment would be their designated Customs controlled area. If their goods were outside their designated area the goods would be considered to have been removed from the licensed area and excise duty would be due and payable.
