Radio transmitters and telecommunications equipment

Not all radio services have common frequency allocations throughout the world. As a consequence, a radio transmitter that may operate satisfactorily in one country may cause interference in another.

Travellers considering the purchase and importation of radio transmitters, cordless and cellular phones, baby monitors and similar equipment should first check with the Radio Spectrum Management Group of the Ministry of Economic Development (on 0508 776 463, or at www.rsm.govt.nz) that the devices meet New Zealand technical standards and will not cause interference to other radio or television broadcast reception.
