What personal information is on the ePassport microchip?
The information on the microchips in the ePassports is the same as the information on the photo page of the passport, ie, full name, nationality, birth date, birth place, sex, date of issue and date of expiry, and the holder's photograph. There is no other identity information held on the microchip. SmartGate also uses facial recognition software to compare the digitised image in the ePassport microchip to the face of the person at the gate.
