Will trans-Tasman travellers still need a passport to enter Australia or New Zealand?

A

Travellers will still need a valid passport when travelling between Australia and New Zealand, and will be subject to the existing compliance checks by border agencies in both countries.

Only ePassports can be used in the SmartGate kiosks. Travellers without ePassports will still have to present themselves to border officials at the airport.
