Inland Revenue seeks feedback on proposed information sharing agreement with Customs

12.00pm 24 April 2026

Inland Revenue is seeking feedback on a proposed Approved Information Sharing Agreement (AISA).

The proposed AISA aims to help prevent families being overpaid Working for Families and thus going into debt when they cease to be eligible by departing New Zealand for extended periods of time.

The AISA would allow Customs to share border movement information of Working for Families recipients with Inland Revenue to support the assessment of ongoing eligibility for Working for Families.

Submissions from members of the public and other interested parties are invited and should be made through Inland Revenue.

Further information, including a discussion document and submission process, is available on the Inland Revenue website.

Submissions close on 5 June 2026.
