Customs and Excise Bill passes 3rd reading

03.35pm 23 March 2018 | News

The Customs and Excise Bill passed its third reading in Parliament on Thursday, 22 March 2018.

The next stage is Royal Assent from the Governor General and then the Bill becomes the new Customs and Excise Act. We are a short step away from having a modern Act that is easier to use and understand, more flexible, and better meets the needs of individuals and industry.

A comprehensive communications and education programme on the changes and what they mean is being developed and will be rolled out in coming months ahead of implementation of the Act on 1 October 2018.
