Move to NZ permanently
If you are moving here for the first time or returning after more than 21 months away you won't have to pay GST and duties on most items.
You might qualify for “household items” concessions if you’re moving to New Zealand for the first time, or moving back after 21 months or more away. This means you won’t have to pay GST and duties on most of your items.
You can’t claim household concessions for:
- new and unused items
- commercial items.
- Other types of motor vehicle or craft.
