Keeping meth out of our communities
04.15pm 09 November 2022
Meet Customs Officer Mary, who is one of the many people we have helping to keep methamphetamine out of our communities.
On a shift at the International Mail Centre in Māngere last week, Mary identified a package showing inconsistencies as it went through the mail belt’s x-ray scanner.
The suspicious package contained reels of lacy gift wrap ribbons, but on careful, closer inspection Mary found approximately half a kilo of methamphetamine concealed in the cardboard reels. This could have caused untold damage to the people around us. These drugs will now be destroyed.
Thank you Mary!
