If the items are for personal use, importers will be required to present their Police import permits to clear goods through their nearest Customs office or contact a Customs Broker to arrange clearance on their behalf. No permits should be sent to the Arms Officer at the Mail Centre.
This change is to improve efficiency of weapons and firearm-related imports cleared by Customs. If Customs receives any Police permits at the International Mail Centre after this date, permits will be returned unprocessed.
NZ Post has made changes on the types of firearm items delivered through its system.
Importers should contact NZ Post for information regarding delivery of such items once they have been released by Customs into the mail system.
