Welcome to the Partners’ Toolkit page where you’ll find posters, videos, flyers, forms, social media tiles, and copy to promote New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) to your networks, customers, communities and in your workplaces.


The NZTD is essential to the protection and safety of New Zealand. We encourage you to use these tools for your websites, social media accounts, workplace channels, newsletters, presentations – anywhere it might help people learn about NZTD.

We will continue to add new material to this page as NZTD uptake and feedback becomes available. Be sure to check in regularly for updates. If you have any suggestions or requests for specific material, please email us. We will do our best to get you what you need.

New Zealand Traveller Declaration - in less than 100 words

If you arrive into New Zealand by air, you need to complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration. 

You will need to answer questions about your trip and what you are bringing into New Zealand. 

You can do your online declaration at www.travellerdeclaration.govt.nz or the NZTD app.

New Zealand Traveller Declaration - in less that 100 words

Travellers can now complete an online travel declaration at www.travellerdeclaration.govt.nz or the NZTD mobile app.

Travellers will be asked questions about their trip and what they are bringing into New Zealand. 

Travellers can make updates to their online declaration until they reach passport control in New Zealand.

New Zealand Traveller Declaration - in less than 200 words

The New Zealand Traveller Declaration is an online system that travellers can use to complete a declaration before they travel to New Zealand. Travellers are asked questions about customs, immigration, and biosecurity. The earliest travellers can submit a declaration is 24 hours before starting their trip to New Zealand. Once they have submitted a declaration, they will receive an email telling them what they need to know when they enter New Zealand. Travellers need to complete a travel declaration for any dependants they are travelling with, including children and infants.  

Online declarations can be updated until passport control in New Zealand. The declaration will automatically be checked when the traveller scans their passport at the eGate or when it is checked by a Border Officer on arrival into New Zealand. 

Checklist for travelling to New Zealand:

  • Check passport is valid  
  • Apply for visa or NZeTA, if needed 
  • Book flight  
  • Check what items can be brought to New Zealand  
  • The earliest a declaration can be submitted is 24 hours before a traveller starts their trip to New Zealand.
